1. Overview

CueBuddy is operated by OptimalSEM LLC, doing business as CueBuddy ("CueBuddy," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit cuebuddy.ai, create an account, upload scripts, use CueBuddy's rehearsal features, purchase a subscription, contact support, or otherwise use our services (collectively, the "Service").

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service.

2. Who May Use CueBuddy

To create and manage a CueBuddy account independently, you must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement. CueBuddy may be used by children under 13 only through a parent-managed account or an approved school or educational program, after CueBuddy receives the parental or school authorization required by applicable law. Children under 13 may not create CueBuddy accounts independently. Users between 13 and 17 must have authorization from a parent, legal guardian, or approved educational institution. A parent, guardian, or authorized educational representative who approves a minor’s use agrees to these Terms on the minor’s behalf and is responsible for supervising that use.

3. Information We Collect

Account and authentication information

When you create or use an account, we may collect your name, email address, account identifier, authentication and login information, subscription plan, account status, and account preferences.

Authentication credentials may be processed by our authentication service provider. We do not intentionally store plaintext passwords.

Subscription and transaction information

When you purchase a subscription, we may collect the plan selected, subscription status, transaction date and amount, payment status, billing country or postal information made available to us, and payment-processor customer and subscription identifiers.

Payments are processed by Stripe. CueBuddy does not store complete credit or debit card numbers on its servers.

Scripts and other content

We collect scripts, excerpts, character selections, scene information, typed Director's Notes, line-specific performance directions, feedback, and other materials that you upload or enter into CueBuddy ("Your Content").

Scripts may contain information relating to other people. Do not upload personal, copyrighted, confidential, or restricted material unless you have sufficient authority or permission to process it through CueBuddy.

Voice and rehearsal information

When you start a voice rehearsal, CueBuddy may process:

  • Microphone audio

  • Speech transcripts

  • Spoken rehearsal commands

  • Spoken Director's Notes

  • Typed Director's Notes

  • Relevant script excerpts and scene context

  • Generated scene-partner audio

  • Session timing, duration, and feature-interaction information

  • Information about whether a command or direction was completed

  • Technical logs and diagnostic events

CueBuddy does not intentionally retain raw rehearsal audio after a session by default. Audio may be processed transiently by service providers to provide the rehearsal. If you expressly agree to provide a recording for support, debugging, or product feedback, we may retain that recording only as long as reasonably necessary for that purpose and then delete it, subject to legal, security, and backup requirements.

We may retain transcripts, recognized commands, Director's Notes, relevant script excerpts, session information, and diagnostic logs when reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, troubleshoot problems, respond to support requests, understand feature performance, and improve reliability.

Device, log, and usage information

We may automatically collect browser and device type, operating system, Internet Protocol address, approximate location derived from an IP address, referring page, pages and features used, date and time of access, error reports, performance and security logs, and cookie, local-storage, or similar identifiers.

Communications and feedback

We collect information you provide when you contact support, report a problem, participate in research, respond to a survey, or submit product feedback.

4. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and administer accounts

  • Accept, format, store, and display uploaded scripts

  • Identify characters and organize scripts for rehearsal

  • Conduct voice rehearsals

  • Process spoken commands and Director's Notes

  • Generate scene-partner performances

  • Provide premium expressive voice features

  • Manage free-session limits, subscriptions, payments, cancellations, and account access

  • Provide customer support and troubleshoot problems

  • Monitor availability, security, fraud, abuse, and technical performance

  • Analyze feature use and improve CueBuddy

  • Communicate about accounts, subscriptions, security, policy changes, and support

  • Send marketing communications when permitted and allow recipients to unsubscribe

  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service

  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

  • Complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets

5. AI, Speech, and Expressive Voice Processing

CueBuddy uses service providers to process speech, text, scripts, instructions, and generated audio so the Service can listen, respond, navigate scripts, and perform scene-partner lines.

CueBuddy does not use Your Content or rehearsal audio to train or fine-tune general-purpose generative models operated by CueBuddy. We configure our production service providers, where supported, so that CueBuddy-submitted scripts, audio, transcripts, and instructions are processed to provide the Service and are not used to train their general-purpose models.

CueBuddy may mishear, simplify, omit, or interpret rehearsal input differently than intended. Director's Notes and expressive performance are experimental, and results may vary.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Where European or similar data-protection law applies, we process personal information under one or more of these legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: To create accounts, provide rehearsals, process scripts, deliver paid features, and manage subscriptions

  • Legitimate interests: To secure, maintain, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve CueBuddy, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights

  • Consent: For optional support recordings, nonessential cookies where required, and marketing communications where consent is required

  • Legal obligation: To maintain required transaction records, respond to lawful requests, and comply with applicable law

  • Legal claims: To establish, exercise, or defend legal rights

You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

7. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information to service providers that perform services on our behalf, including providers of:

  • Cloud hosting, databases, storage, and content delivery

  • Authentication and account administration

  • Real-time audio communication

  • Speech recognition and transcription

  • AI text, script, and performance processing

  • Generated and expressive voice delivery

  • Payment and subscription processing

  • Transactional email and customer communications

  • Product analytics

  • Error monitoring, logging, security, and fraud prevention

  • Customer support

  • Professional legal, accounting, insurance, and compliance services

These providers may process information only for authorized purposes, subject to applicable agreements and data-protection obligations.

We may also disclose information:

  • When required by law, subpoena, court order, or valid government request

  • To protect the rights, safety, security, or property of CueBuddy, users, or others

  • To investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms

  • In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of our business, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections

  • At your direction or with your consent

We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose scripts or rehearsal content to advertisers. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Cookies and Analytics

CueBuddy uses cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies that are necessary to authenticate users, maintain sessions, preserve preferences, prevent fraud, and operate the Service.

We may also use product-analytics and error-monitoring tools to understand how features are used, measure performance, diagnose problems, and improve CueBuddy. Where required by law, CueBuddy will request consent before using nonessential cookies or similar technologies.

You can control cookies through your browser, although disabling necessary storage may prevent parts of CueBuddy from functioning.

CueBuddy does not currently use personal information for targeted advertising.

9. Data Retention

We retain account information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the Service.

Following a verified account-deletion request:

  • We aim to remove scripts and personal information from active production systems within 30 days

  • Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 days before routine deletion

  • We may retain limited subscription, transaction, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal-compliance records for longer when required or reasonably necessary

We retain rehearsal information, support communications, analytics, and diagnostic information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. We may retain aggregated or deidentified information that can no longer reasonably identify you.

Cancellation of a subscription and deletion of an account are separate actions. If you request deletion of an account with an active subscription, we will cancel the subscription before completing account deletion.

10. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Request deletion

  • Request a portable copy of certain information

  • Request restriction of processing

  • Object to certain processing

  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent

  • Opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising

  • Appeal a denied privacy request

  • Lodge a complaint with an applicable privacy or data-protection authority

  • Receive equal service and pricing without unlawful discrimination for exercising privacy rights

To make a request, email support@cuebuddy.ai. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, including where information must be retained for security, billing, legal-compliance, or dispute purposes.

11. California Residents

If the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended ("CCPA"), applies to CueBuddy or a particular processing activity, California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete certain personal information and to opt out of certain sales or sharing.

CueBuddy does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. CueBuddy does not offer a financial incentive in exchange for personal information.

California requests may be submitted to support@cuebuddy.ai. We will respond as required if the CCPA applies.

12. International Users

CueBuddy is operated from the United States. Personal information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your country.

Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. Contact support@cuebuddy.ai for additional information about applicable transfer safeguards.

13. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These may include encrypted transmission, access controls, authentication controls, logging, and restricted access based on operational need.

No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure will never occur. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.

14. Third-Party Sites and Services

CueBuddy may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, or applicable law. We will update the "Last updated" date and provide additional notice by email or through the Service when a change is material.
